PSLE English Oral SBC Workshop
This is a highly hands-on, small group workshop (max. 10 students) designed to help children approach the SBC as a communication skill not just an exam task. This workshop has been carefully shaped through many hours of direct coaching with Primary 4 to 6 students. Rather than teaching only “ideal answers,” it focuses on the real challenges children encounter from fearing to reply in the negative, to struggling with elaboration, or presenting ideas in an ad-hoc manner. Strategies taught are built from ground-up: practical, tested, and student-friendly. The goal is to help children build the confidence, structure, and clarity they need to perform at their best in the Oral SBC Exam. This workshop is particularly suitable for students who are currently in Primary 5 or Primary 6. Primary 4 students are welcomed. Public workshops are open for registration now!
Break down and anticipate questions logically
Train students to use preparation time wisely, predict questions, to not be caught off-guard
Translate static pictures into words
Move beyond "what they see" to describing with detail and clarity. Use appropriate emotion and action words to bring the picture to life
Build systematic, structured answers
Train to use a reliable framework to keep responses organised under pressure. Keep answers clear and systematic to convey responses effectively
Draw on own experiences to sound natural and authentic
Encourages confidence by making answers personal, relatable, and easy to express

Program Objectives
This is a highly hands-on, small group workshop (maximum of 10 students) designed to help children approach the Stimulus-Based Conversation (SBC) as a communication skill. The aim is to empower them to speak with confidence and fluency, while building techniques that feel natural and authentic.
Through a ground-up approach developed from real coaching experience, the workshop tackles the very challenges students often face. By breaking down each question, students gain awareness of the logic and structure behind strong responses. Step-by-step guides provide a systematic method to use details from the stimulus and translate static pictures into words.
Most importantly, the workshop encourages students to draw on their own experiences. By making their answers personal, familiar, and comfortable, we create the scaffolding they need to express their ideas clearly and confidently.
This workshop will be run by Discovering Potential's founder, Hwang Siew Ling, who has extensive experience training students in PSLE Oral skills. Siew Ling is an Interview and Communication Coach, and she is the author of the PSLE Oral SBC Guidebook (2nd edition will be available in November 2025). Every participant will receive a copy of the PSLE Oral SBC Guidebook (2nd Edition) which retails for $34.90 each.
Fees
$320 per participant (workshop fees are not refundable but may be transferred to another participant). Only the registered participant may attend, parents and guardians are not permitted in the workshop.
